“I am yours, and you are mine always” | Ellie & Ash’s Aston Hall Hotel wedding film
The great thing about weddings is that they are all different. Yes there are elements of a wedding day that are common, but there is usually a theme that has been chosen by the couple which flows through the day to reflect their taste and their personalities. There are also different ‘vibes’ at weddings. Some can be geared up for elegance, or maybe a bit of bling, some can be laid back relaxed affairs, or they can be quite formal - it is great to have that variety as a storyteller, and I love to try and create a film that reflects the couple.
How would I describe Ellie and Ashley’s wedding - FUN! It was like a filmmakers dream, a party atmosphere, lots of dancing, people enjoying themselves, a really outgoing bunch - the hardest thing for me, just make sure the camera is rolling to catch it!
The celebrations took place at the beautiful Aston Hall Hotel in Sheffield. Lovely grounds, a classic blend of old/new decor, and a warm (but not too hot) sunny August day. With a large bridal party on each side the morning was busy and actions packed, but in keeping with the characters involved in this story it always felt fun and never overly stressful (some weddings definitely feel stressful!). It was lovely to witness Ellie being walked down the aisle by her grandfather, I got a great shot of this which managed to include Ash close up in the frame waiting for his bride.
Following the vows the couple were showered with confetti inside the ceremony room - this was a new one for me! But hey, I love my confetti shots so as long as they happen, they can happen wherever! Outside onto the lawn for the group shots and some serious comedy groomsmen snaps in their custom made boxer shorts. Like I said FUN!
After the meal and speeches their was an awesome two piece band who played outside on the terrace. The sun was shining, everyone was drinking and singing along to some classic songs, it felt like a mini music festival. Into the evening reception and back inside for first dance and cake cutting, Photo Booth, and chocolate fountain. Then a mix of classic dance tracks, cheesy pop, a rendition (with dance actions) to Rick Astley’s ‘never going to give you up’. From what I understand we left before the party got into top gear - but believe me by the time we left it was already one of the most energetic night do’s I have ever seen!
So there you go, a super fun wedding. Oh, and did I mention how gorgeous Ellie looked in her dress and how cute these guys are as a couple? No? Well, you will just have to watch the film!
